While at Los Altos High School, Kris started Brushback Baseball Club in 2011 with a 13U team. During the two years Kris coached the team, Silver Creek improved to a record of 28-25. In 2015 Kris was named Head Varsity Coach of Mountain View High School, where in 2016 led the team to its first league title and postseason appearance in six years. In 2019 Coach Mims led the school to its fourth consecutive CCS appearance and its first ever CCS Division I Championship.
